Ingredients
- 1 cup raw rice
- ½ cup split yellow moong dal
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 6-7 black peppercorns
- 2-3 whole red chilies
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 1 ½ cups of water
Instructions
- Start by rinsing the rice and dal and set aside.
- Turn on the Instant Pot and set it to sauté mode. Once hot, add the ghee and let it melt. Then add the cumin seeds, peppercorns, red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the ginger and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the rice and dal and mix well. Sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Add the water and mix well. Close the Instant Pot lid and set the vent to sealing. Cook on manual high pressure for 4 minutes.
- Once the cooking time is done, allow the pressure to release naturally. Open the lid and fluff the pongal with a fork.
